Skip Singer has been working with his hands creating fantastic objects from a very young age. Reshaping all sorts of media from ceramics, wood, plastics and metals into all sorts of great and wonderful things.
Starting early at his father’s ceramics business he learned to respect the power and ability of machines. His playground was filled with equipment of an almost past age. Tools of massive weight and stature adorned with cranks, dials and gears all being driven by giant motors that growled and hummed, bumped and banged. As his career progressed he would refine his talents working for some of the best in their fields. Helping develop the mold and model shop of the premier terracotta restoration company Boston Valley Terra Cotta. This gave him great understanding of production work, it’s struggles and it’s need for good quality jigs and fixtures. With tons of challenges working in a model shop, he learned how to work with plaster, castable rubbers and plastic as well as steel and wood. Moving on from BVTC he took his skills to an upcoming pre-cast company running their mold shop for many years. All the wile refining his artwork and growing his knowledge base of how to work with different materials. Looking for a bit of change, he started Raven Workshop. Focusing strongly on steel, wood and concrete custom objects for bars and restaurants as well as his own artwork. It was during this time he met his wife and moved to New Hampshire. Taking a Job with Benson Woodworking where he would step back from Raven Workshop, giving his focus to Benson and the amazing team of craftsmen that work there. Bensonwood would give him a better understanding of working with wood in a large scale high-end millwork shop. Bringing his metal working talent to BWC would prove beneficial in the development of new products, jigs and tooling for the woodworking and other departments. Some of his work during this time can be seen here. Developing the Keygrip™ to the market place has invigorated Skip's need for a personal creative outlet. Raven Workshop is that outlet, combining the many years of acquired skills into a place to share great artistic design with friends and the world. Welcome and thanks for stopping by. |
